Subaru XV 2020 – The Budget-Priced Crossover

For such a relatively low powered vehicle, I really enjoyed my time driving this Subaru. Okay, so it doesn’t have a particularly powerful engine and on the road its steering is a little light – but that’s the only negative things I can say.

What the XV has plenty of is authenticity. It’s a well-built budget priced crossover that, unlike many others on the market can actually ‘do the business’ and be used and enjoyed for off-roading!

This car is basically an off-road version of Subaru’s Impreza hatchback, but with substantially raised ground clearance and lots other modifications plus extra headroom befitting an off-road vehicle. There’s plenty of seating space and the ride is comfortable, though boot space is a bit limited.

One of its great strengths is Subaru’s excellent All Wheel Drive (AWD) system, which comes standard on all Subaru’s and is something the company is renowned for.

For overall practicality, for both road and off-road usage, this XV scores very highly. It also has great build quality and comes well equipped with LED lights and attractive two-tone leather upholstery with orange stitching.

The XV is offered in three trim levels: 2.0i / 2.0i-S and 2.0i-S EyeSight. All come standard with all-wheel drive and are powered by the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine (154 horsepower, 196Nm of torque) with Lineartronic transmission.

If you’re interested in getting an XV for off-roading, I recommend you first go on to Youtube and watch some of the interesting videos made about the XV, including where it keeps up with other far more expensive off road vehicles such as a Jeep Wrangler and a Land Rover Defender – an impressive feat for any crossover.

PS. Motor City are currently offering the XV at a starting price of just BD6, 995 (plus VAT) with 10 year/ 250,000 km warranty.
