Over 225,000 To Benefit From Oman’s Maternity Leave Insurance
A total of 225,981 individuals, including 160,886 Omanis are expected to benefit from the Maternity Leave Insurance branch which will be implemented from July 19, by the Social Protection Fund.
The goal of the initiative is to provide social protection for families in Oman, especially working mothers.
The Fund: “The goal of implementing the maternity leave insurance branch is to provide social protection for the family and the working mother, covering them with social insurance against risks, empowering and appreciating the role of working women socially and economically, ensuring and preserving the rights of both the employer and the insured, and expanding insurance coverage to include expat workers in the Sultanate of Oman .
“The employer is obligated to pay one percent in contributions to the branch, calculated from the full wage without a specific ceiling and on a daily basis,” the Fund added.
“The entitlements of the Maternity Leave Insurance branch include maternity leave allowance, paternity leave, childcare leave, and maternity leave for terminated employees eligible for job security allowance.”
