Bahrain: Duty-Free Prohibits “Pre-Purchase” of Tobacco
Duty-free outlets in Bahrain International Airport issued a new decision prohibiting travellers departing from Bahrain to receive their pre-purchases of tobacco, molasses, and cigars from the arrival counters on their return to the airport, as the practice was previously.
The new decision stipulates passengers can take their purchased items with them on abroad and return them with them again in their bags on return trips if they wish.
The old practice was that the passengers have the right to purchase tobacco, molasses, and cigars in a limited quantity and receive a receipt from the Airport Duty-free when upon their return they can collect their purchases from the sales counters in the arrival hall.
The current amount allows the traveller to not exceeding (400) cigarettes in quantity, (50) Cigars, (250) Grams of tobacco in open packets, for Adults only.
