Bahrain: Court Upholds 15-Year term for Robbing Expat
The High Appeals Court has upheld the sentence issued against two men convicted of robbing BD1,100 from an expat after posing as police officers.
The pair were earlier sentenced to 15 years behind bars each, but a set of different judges at the High Appeals Court reduced their jail terms to 10 years behind bars each on appeal. Later, the High Appeals Court, under a different judicial panel, upheld the sentences against them.
It’s said that the pair tracked their victim after leaving a bank in Isa Town, after which they posed as police officers and kidnapped him.
t’s claimed that the pair were involved in robbing three other places, from which they pocketed a total amount of BD9,000. The duo was identified following police investigations and they admitted to their crimes.
